We had a wonderful paddle in our kayaks around Nauset Marsh from Goose Hummock the other day. It was a gorgeous day, with blue skies and a nice breeze. A nice respite from the hot and humid weather that we have been having lately. (Click on blog link to see other photo.)
We saw several seals swimming in the waters near Nauset Spit, which we have seen for the past couple of years. It wasn’t until we started to paddle back via another route that we heard this very loud cacophony which sounded just like seals. As we got closer we could see a sandbar that had hundreds of seals lazing about. Wow! We were shocked… that there were so many seals there so far from the spit and not very far from Town Cove. When did that happen?
Has anyone else seen all of these seals on the marsh side of Nauset Spit?
My granddaughter counted 55 seals in the video I sent her of the seals at Coast Guard Beach. That sure seems like a lot! (Click on blog link for other photo.)
I loved this guy, taking a nap with everyone else around him. Too funny, don’t you think?
These two little baby raccoons keep coming around our yard for a drink of water. They start at the little bird bath, but drink it dry, as you can see in the 2nd photo. They then make it over to the tall bird bath and climb up for a long drink. (Click on blog link for other photos.)
These photos were just too cute not to post! Loved this little guy walking across the yard!
We originally bought our little bird bath, which sits on the ground, for the little animals that needed a drink but couldn’t reach the taller bird bath. We realized that all the animals and the birds liked to drink from it and the birds loved taking a bath in the little one. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
I looked out the window yesterday evening after dinner and there were these two little baby raccoons taking a drink. They were just adorable. They stayed around the yard for a bit. They must be the little ones from the mom that was coming around a couple of weeks ago looking for food.
So cute, don’t you think? Just maybe a little too big for that bird bath! Ha!
There are so many new and huge sandbars along Coast Guard Beach this summer, there is sure to be an influx of seals hanging around. That’s exactly what we saw as we took a walk down the beach at low tide yesterday. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
You could hear the cacophony of sounds coming from the seals, that somewhat resembled a chorus, before you could see them. They were just relaxing in the waves and singing away. They are quite entertaining.
Have you seen any seals yet this summer?
