I was meandering through the woods at my yard when I saw this shiny Mussel shell on the ground. How on earth did it get there? I walk there pretty frequently, so I know it hasn’t been there very long.
I looked up and there was the perfect branch to perch and pick at a Mussel shell for lunch, or dinner or whenever.
You can find some things in the most amazing places!
I was taking one of my early morning bike rides when I must have disturbed this Great Blue Heron on top of a tree close by. He gave me a loud squawk and flew away. I stopped to see where he was going.
He landed on top of the tree in the distance. I thought it was so cool to see this huge bird sitting on top of a smallish tree and I loved the beautiful background morning sky.
This Egret was fishing for lunch in one of the tidal ponds on the salt marsh by Boat Meadow Beach. Just as we drove by, he dove in for his meal and… caught a fish!
I was walking home from the beach and had just crossed the bridge across the salt marsh when I heard some laughing. I looked out onto th marsh and it looked like there was a flock of Laughing Gulls having a party, flying in and out and just laughing.
Have you ever heard a Laughing Gull? Besides being funny, they are really a beautiful bird. I love their black heads. What do you think?
We bought a small birdbath that sits on the ground for those birds (or chipmunks!) that would like a drink of water or a little bath without having to go to the big birdbath that is 3 feet off the ground. We can’t believe how popular it is!
The little birds love it… as do the Mourning Doves and Flickers! It seems like everyone stops by at some point for a drink or a dunk.
I saw these little Finches all splashing away. So cute, don’t you think?
