Sometimes I love stormy days at the beach, especially on Cape Cod. I took this photograph a few days ago when the winds were howling and the waves were rolling on Cape Cod Bay. But the seas were pretty quiet on Boat Meadow beach.
I loved the lighting on the tall grasses that have turned so yellowish brown this fall. Pretty, don’t you think?
I had never seen a Semipalmated Plover on the beaches of Cape Cod Bay, so it was a big treat to see so many of them dashing about the beach looking for food this past week.
They are a small Plover that usually migrates to coastal areas of south United States during the winter months. Maybe they were heading down that way and stopped for a bite to eat on the way?
It gots its name because it only has partly webbed feet, thus the “semi” meaning half.
It was such a pretty sunset at Boat Meadow last Saturday, I grabbed my camera and jumped in the car. It’s only about a 2 minute drive so I got there when it was still pretty.
This Kite Surfer was surfing at low tide at First Encounter Beach. It was so cool! You can see the sandbars in front of him and behind him. He was surfing on the water in between. He must’ve been pretty good to do that!
It’s so much fun to see the kite surfers out at anytime of the year when it’s windy. They just put on their wet suits and go out and have a blast!
This poor boat was taking a beating as the Double-breasted Cormorants were using it as a perch on Cape Cod Bay. I wonder what the owner will say when he returns?
Looks like they are trying to navigate the boat from the top perch!
