The tides were pretty high at Nauset Light Beach as you can see all of the driftwood that has washed ashore. And when the tides get that high, especially in the winter months, you can’t even walk on the beach. The water goes right up to the dunes!

Do people still collect driftwood to make sculptures, etc., or is it somehow protected on the National Seashore and collected by the park service?

I don’t think you are supposed to take anything out of a National Park or the National Seashore.
Leave nothing, take nothing. Makes sense! 🙂
