Phil and I were taking a walk on Coast Guard Beach the other day when I saw three birds scurrying along the water’s edge. At first I thought they must be Piping Plovers, but the color was off. I took a few photographs and did a little research when I got home. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
They were Western Sandpipers which are pretty cool to see around here. They breed in northern Alaska and then migrate south through the mid-western states and along the coast of the eastern states.
Have you ever seen a Western Sandpiper? This was my 2nd time as we saw some on Cape Cod Bay early last summer.
Somehow, I’m remembering an Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton movie I saw in 1965. 🙂
