Yesterday was the 30th Annual Arey’s Pond Cat Gathering, one of the largest gatherings of catboats on the east coast. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
“Our annual Cat Gathering is a time for catboats of all shapes and sizes to come together for a just-for-fun regatta through Pleasant Bay. Every year over 80 boats come together for this parade of sail.”
It was just spectacular to see all of those sailboats out on the water!
“There is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. In or out of ’em, it doesn’t matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that’s the charm of it…”
Spoken by Ratty to Mole in Wind in the Willows a children’s book by Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932).
