The Crown Vetch wildflowers are blooming all over Cape Cod and are just gorgeous! Crown Vetch are a bicolored flower which form golf-ball size clusters at the end of stalks. They are a creeping plant which makes a nice ground cover.
I took this photograph on the Nauset Marsh Trail past the amphitheater at the Visitors Center.
Fun fact:
Crownvetch provides excellent escape cover and nesting for rabbits and quail, and an excellent food source for deer, turkey and rabbits during its young and tender growth stages.

Not so fun fact:
Crown vetch can be commonly found as pasture coverage to control soil erosion but it is actually a source of poisoning for your horse if he ingests it.
