The 31st Annual Arey’s Pond Cat Gathering was held this past weekend. It is a just-for-fun regatta for catboats and classic sailboats. It starts in Little Pleasant Bay, goes through The Narrows, and into Pleasant Bay. Every year nearly 100 boats come together for this parade of sail.
It was so much fun on Sunday watching all of the sailboats from the “Cat Gathering” starting their race in Little Pleasant Bay.
From: The Regatta
Belfast , 17th June, 1830
“…Come, see our Ocean-racers,
Our leapers of the surf!—
See the foil’d waves split and blazing,
Round our bows untired and free,
Leave your wearied steeds a-grazing,
And come with us to Sea….”

🙂 And the Regatta poem enthusiastically concludes:
“…Set life at ten knots going—
Then come with us to Sea !”
