Scarlet Pimpernel, tiny, bright reddish-orange wildflowers, are blooming along the trails at Fort Hill. They are just beautiful and grow in large clumps that you can see in the 2nd photograph. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
Did you know that the Scarlet Pimpernel flowers open only when the sun shines, and even close in overcast conditions?
Have you see the Scarlet Pimpernel this year?
“In England, the Scarlet Pimpernel is sometimes called “shepherd’s weatherglass” because the flowers only open in the sunshine, and so can be used to predict the weather.”
