Two Eastern Kingbirds At The Nauset Light Overlook On Cape Cod.

I was enjoying the evening view at the Nauset Light Beach overlook when I heard a bit of chatter in the brush. I looked up and there were two Eastern Kingbirds perched on top of the rose bush.  I already had my phone out,  so I clicked away and only got 2 photos before they flew away.

Have you ever seen a Kingbird?

  1. Eastern Kingbird fun fact:

“It’s not called a kingbird for nothing. The Eastern Kingbird has a crown of yellow, orange, or red feathers on its head, but the crown is usually concealed. When it encounters a potential predator the kingbird may simultaneously raise its bright crown patch, stretch its beak wide open to reveal a red gape, and dive-bomb the intruder.”
