Just about everyone who hikes at Fort Hill passes this rock on the trail. In the summer, a Rose of Sharon flower grows out from the deep crevice. In the winter, it’s just a large glacial rock which makes a nice backdrop if you’re looking across Nauset Marsh toward Coast Guard Station.
“Glaciers can pick up chunks of rocks and transport them over long distances. When they drop these rocks, they are often far from their origin—the outcrop or bedrock from which they were plucked. ”

Makes you wonder where this rock originated. 🙂
