The past few times we’ve walk Coast Guard Beach, we’ve noticed a platform or walkway starting to emerge from the dunes. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
You can see how close it is to the old path to the beach which is next to the fence on the left.
Does anyone know what used to be there? Was it a walkway? I remember it used to be pretty flat there until just a few years ago when beach erosion really kicked in and the dunes started getting much taller.
Yes, there was a walkway from restrooms to the beach. There used to be a livecam set up in a window and pointed down the boardwalk. I could sit at my work desk and watch the comings and goings.
Oh fun!! Do you know when it got washed away?
Maintaining those walkways reminds me of the myth about Sisyphus condemned to push uphill a rock that always rolls back down. :-0
