I saw this beautiful blue wildflower at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary the other day, in the garden outside the Nature Center. I think it is Blue-Eyed Grass, It was so pretty and so delicate.
Does anyone know if it is Blue-Eyed Grass?
Since I wrote this Blog, someone commented that it is a Glory of the Snow wildflower. Kudos to my readers for taking the time to help me identify it! Thank you!!
Wikipedia says there are up to 200 species of blue-eyed grass. Google images has many many photos of flowers similar to this one, but the one most similar is labelled “blue & white wildflowers.” Hmm…
Thanks, Linda! I couldn’t find an identification either.
I think it is the minor bulb Chionodoxa. Commonly known as glory of the snow. They like sandy soils and naturalize easily. You might go on vanengelen.com and look at the pictures. Another blue bulb just about over is scilla. I had them in my back yard and the yard was a sea of blue in april.
Judy, Thank You!! It looks just like that! I will add that to my list. Such s pretty flower.
